All car seat safety checks at Adjoyn are performed by Amy Rainbow, a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) through the National Child Passenger Safety certifying body, Safe Kids Worldwide.
A seat check can take 30-60 minutes per car, sometimes more depending on the number of car seats and complexity of arrangement. Here's the general timeline of an inspection of one or two seats:
5 minutes: Intake. We'll quickly confirm information you provided when you scheduled the check, then the current installation of your car seat(s) will be reviewed. Your Certified Technician will request your vehicle's owner's manual and your car seat(s)'s manual(s).
20-30 minutes: Tinkering. Your technician will uninstall your car seat(s) and inspect them, they'll inspect the seat belts and/or LATCH systems of your car, and they'll read the manuals you've provided to ensure every detail is inspected.
10-20 minutes: Install. The driver of the vehicle and the children who ride in the car seats should be present. The Certified Technician will review any findings or points of interest with the driver and/or driver's adult passenger. The car's safety seats will be installed with the driver and/or driver's adult passenger and all questions can be addressed. Resources on any recalls or other relevant information will be provided.
All locations: Bring your vehicle's owner's manual AND the manual for each car seat being inspected. Don't have the manual? That's okay - just let Adjoyn know your seat's model information in the intake form at registration.
All locations: Bring the driver of the vehicle and the children who occupy the seats. If the children cannot be present that's okay, but it helps to have them present.
All locations: Bring something to do while you wait. During the tinkering period your Certified Technician is reading and, well, tinkering. Keep yourself and your children occupied by enjoying nearby amenities (at all our on-site locations), or stay and watch!
All locations: Bring an hour and your car seat questions!
